reposted from the Studio Sokodei blog.
There’s a war going on at Wikipedia.org. It’s a battle between the admins and the general public centered around the Notability policy. Wikipedia admins are on a crusade to purge all the articles that aren’t worthy of encyclopedic inclusion. The primary group of people feeling the brunt of this onslaught are the WebComic publishers who’s entries are being destroyed with vitriolic prejudice.
All of Studio Sokodei’s entries have been caught in the cross fire. To date, ReDeath is the only entry left standing, and it has already been marked for deletion (for reasons totally untrue) by the wikipedia admins.
As a matter of Notability:
- All entries on Studio Sokodei and its works were not created by any members of Studio Sokodei.
- Jubei Powers, ReDeath, Fanboy Bebop, and Nescaflowné were all written and produced before the creation of YouTube.
- Studio Sokodei’s works have been publicly and privately viewed at over 50 animé conventions (many several years running) around the world since 2000.
- Studio Sokodei’s works have been critiqued and reviewed by professional and hobbyist journalists alike in hundreds (if not thousands) of blogs and several high profile animé review and news sites.
In compliance with Wikipedia’s Notability guidelines, I have not and I will not create entries about Studio Sokodei or its works, as this would be flagrant self-publicity. However, I realize that our fans have created and edited in the past, and I ask that you do it again, and again, and again, until the Wikipedia admins lose this war.
Please also read up on the topic. Howard Tayler is calling on people to not donate money to the Wikimedia Foundation. I echo this sentiment. We need to strike back at this abuse of power.
I ran by the Valley Fair Apple Store this evening and picked up Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
Thus begins my long tweak and restoration process.
My MotoV330 got tired of living and decided to take a bath followed by a short trip to hell. So… I’m gonna be without a phone for a few days. I was hoping to hold out a while longer for a GPS enabled iPhone, but I guess I can’t do that now. Fortunately my V330 lasted a good 2 years, well beyond the 1-year contract I signed. Unfortunately this means I have to decide on a new phone for the next cellphone era. I’m torn between Helio’s geo tagging instant flickr uploading Fin and the over rated Apple iPhone.
The iPhone is overpriced and under featured but it has the best web browser. (No, I don’t care about hacks like Navizon or Jailbreak. I don’t have the time)
The Helio Fin has, GoogleMaps, InstaFlickr, InstaYouTube, GPS (with geotagging!), 3.0MP Camera, lighter, smaller, eyes-free dialing, no AT&T monopoly enema.
Another essay for my Engl1B class at SJSU. The topic for this one is current events related to my SE. Since it’s an english class and most SE current events are boring, this essay loosely addresses DRM (somewhat more interesting) instead. Same audience disclaimer.
The following opinions may not be indicative of my (or anyone’s) personal views on the topic.
Stealing isn’t what it used to be. As words often do, “stealing” is taking on a new meaning. “Stealing” used to mean the act of taking another person’s property without legal permission; by stealing what is yours, I deprive you of your possession of it. The concept of material deprivation was invented long before the digital age. In a world where ideas are free, “stealing” is no longer what it was. Record Labels are businesses whose business model is based on the control and restriction of music, of ideas, a business model that is threatened by the new paradigm of free information. The Record Labels try to maintain control with copyright and try to restrict ideas with Digital Rights Management; they throw obstacles between musicians and audiences like boulders into a river. And when the music eventually gets to the ears of their customers, despite their best efforts, they call this “stealing.”

We were having some issues with bloglines NUNS. Ben added an angry nun debug graphic. So, logically, it needed the MM2 treatment.
