Palm-mounted Controller

Keyboard Mouse Controller - KBMC

I build these palm-mounted controllers in my garage. In January 2020, I got an itch to play PC games with a controller, but couldn’t find any good options that satisfied all the things I wanted:

All the plastic design is in Autodesk Fusion 360

All the plastic design is in Autodesk Fusion 360

  1. The controller can be used seamlessly with an existing mouse and keyboard

  2. The controller is XInput plug-n-play; it doesn’t require drivers or software hacks

  3. The controller outputs full 360° analog for controller movement in games

  4. The controller can be used in a neutral hand position that doesn’t interfere with typing

  5. The controller is lightweight and easy to setup and store

The controller has undergone dozens of design iterations as I learned to build each part including the sensor electronics, the plastic housing, the micro-controller firmware, the surface finishing, and more. I personally use each iteration to play every PC game I play and have logged thousands of hours using it. It’s my daily driver and I don’t think I could ever go back to WASD for movement.
